What a season it has been, BCN! From the sun-baked courts of Barcelona to the beaches of Lloret and the intense showdowns in Marbella, the 2025/26 season has been one for the history books. We’ve seen incredible growth in skill, a massive influx of brilliant new faces, and—most importantly—the tightest club community yet....

Before we officially trade our netball dresses for summer swimwear and head off for a well-deserved break, it’s time to take a breath, look back, and celebrate the incredible people who made this year what it was.

🆕 Best Newcomer

• Winner: Amelia Watt
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who arrived and instantly became part of the furniture! Joining a new club can be daunting, but Amelia made it look effortless. From her very first session, she threw herself into training, matches, socials, and everything in between with endless enthusiasm and positivity. It already feels like she's been part of BCN for years rather than months - We will miss you!!

🚀 Most Improved Player

• Winner: Sarah Christenson
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun whose growth this season has been impossible to miss! Sarah has worked incredibly hard this year and it has shown every single time she stepped onto court. Her confidence, game awareness, movement, and understanding of the sport have all come on leaps and bounds. Even a mid-season injury couldn't dampen her determination or enthusiasm for the club.

📅 Most Dedicated (Best Attendance)

• Winner: Hels Mubiru
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who treats training dates like a legally binding contract! Rain, shine, busy week, tired week—it didn't matter. If there was netball on, chances are Hels was there. The data doesn't lie: Hels hit an absolute powerhouse 70 sessions over the season! Her consistency have been second to none, setting the ultimate standard for the entire squad.

📋 The Taskmaster

• Winner: Jo Moppett
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who never lets a task sit lonely on Sportmember! While many of us enjoy scrolling past club jobs and hoping someone else volunteers, Moppett is usually already halfway through completing them. Whether it's helping at events, stepping up when extra support she makes committee life infinitely easier.

👥 Player's Player

• Winner: Jo Moppett

• The Rationale: The Netball Hun voted by the people, for the people! This one is extra special because it comes directly from the squad based on being nominated during our matches and torneos. Jo has made a huge impact this season with her work rate, versatility, encouragement, and absolute commitment. Whether she’s intercepting everything in sight, driving through court, or giving her all for the team, she is the kind of player everyone wants beside them.

💙 Club Values Award

• Winner: Libby Stephens
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who leads with calm, kindness, and proper club-first energy. Libby has been such a steady, generous presence this season, always willing to share her knowledge, lead coaching sessions, and captain with calm confidence. She represents the absolute best of our club: teamwork, encouragement, commitment, and kindness.

🎭 Team Spirit Award

• Winner: Judith McTaggart
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who proves being a teammate is about far more than the minutes you play. Whether she's on court, on the sideline, or heading all the way to Lloret just to support and cheer everyone on, Judith consistently puts the club before herself. She brings massive positivity wherever she goes, making every player around her feel supported and valued.

🌟 Committee Nominated (Behind-the-Scenes Help)

• Winner: Emily Hortop
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who quietly gets things done and makes club life better for everyone. Some contributions happen in the spotlight, and some happen behind the scenes. Emily has been one of those people who is always willing to help, support, organise, and contribute to club initiatives and social activities whenever needed.

👟 The Coaching Awards

🛡️ Coach's Award: Defence

• Winner: Hattie Frew
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who treats every attacking player like a personal challenge! Hattie has been an absolute nightmare for opposition attackers this season with her relentless pressure, determination, and ability to disrupt play. Her tenacity, grit, and refusal to back down make her an invaluable asset to the squad.

⚡ Coach's Award: Midcourt

• Winner: Alice Danes
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who somehow manages to be absolutely everywhere at once! Alice has been the engine room of the team this season, tirelessly linking defence to attack and making the impossible look effortless. We're still not entirely convinced there aren't three of you on court at any given time, Alice!

🎯 Coach's Award: Shooter

• Winner: Yasmin Payne
• The Rationale: The Netball Hun who sees the post and simply refuses to miss! Yasmin has been a rock in the shooting circle this season, bringing confidence, composure, and an incredible scoring touch whenever she takes the court. Thank you for all the goals, all the calmness, and all the moments that had us cheering from the sidelines.

👑 Coach's Helpers

• Winners: Lily James & Lydia Khan
• The Rationale: The Tiny Bosses who proved that great coaches come in small packages! Throughout the season, Lily and Lydia have stepped up time and time again to support training sessions, run drills, demonstrate skills, and ensure nobody was standing around chatting for too long. Absolute role models and a massive help to the coaching team!

🦸‍♀️Unsung Hero Award

• Winner: Fizz Hull
• The Rationale: Some contributions shine on court, others happen quietly week after week, without fanfare or recognition, and yours have been at the heart of everything that makes our club run. The mark of truly great members isn't how much people notice what you do, it's how much they'd notice if you stopped—and our club simply wouldn't be the same without you. This season you were everywhere—organising activities, welcoming new members, managing communications, coordinating events, and solving problems before most people even noticed them. The numbers only hint at the full picture: 115 club tasks completed (putting you joint first across the entire club!) and 98 activities attended, making you our highest participating member overall. But even those incredible figures don't capture the hours nobody sees. Fizz, thank you for everything!

🦅 Special Shout Outs

• The Player With The Best Claw Action: Jo N 🦅
• The Netball hun with the most epic, aerial, one-handed claw action. Combined with a lean that would rival the Leaning Tower of Pisa and her fiercely shouting "RIGHT!" at a centre pass, she keeps us all focused and fired up.

• The Player With The Most Floor Action: Judith McTaggart 💥
• The Netball hun who loves to roll around on the floor! Judith loves netball so much she can literally play it lying down. She leaves absolutely everything out on the court—and usually a bit of her knees too.
• The Queen Of Stretching: Emma CS (ECS) 🧘‍♀️
• The Yogini Maestra of the Netball Club. Emma has been an absolute godsend this season, teaching us how to ease our stressful minds, keep us grounded off the court, and reminding us that we are here to have fun and be present.

• Always At A Tournament!: Ebony 🇺🇸🏟️
• As our longest-standing club member, Ebony is the absolute heartbeat of the squad! Celebrating an incredible 8 years with BCN and having played in over 20 torneos, she is an absolute legend. Flawless as a mid-court director and official quarterback, tournament play is her absolute happy place, running play after play without breaking a sweat.

• Loudest On Court: Abbi 📣
• This Netball hun doesn't need a megaphone! Abbi is our ultimate coach from the sidelines, even when managing an injury. Barking out flawless direction and screaming her lungs out to cheer us on, she keeps our energy at 100%. YAAAAAAS queen!

• Hardcore Defender: Joanna Moppett 🧱
• Interception and Pressure are this Netball hun's Spanish surnames! An absolute wall on court and a total weapon who even walked away with the official "Best Defender" award at the Marbella tournament.

• Scoring (She Shoots, She Scores!!!): Nina Pilcher 📯
• Nina only joined us this season, but her dedication has been next-level—even buying her own ball and rocking the snazzy netball shoes. She stepped up beautifully for tournaments and always brings the absolute cutest cheer squad with her.

• Chupito Queen: Becca Brows 🍋
• Shots, shots, shots... and probably a cheeky bottle of limoncello! "The Menace" brings the ultimate party vibes, but also stepped up to run exhausting fitness workouts and dove straight into umpire training to support the club from the whistle. An absolute legend.

• Our Netball Maestra: Libby Stephens 👑
• The ultimate netball go-to! Libby is the definition of calm, collected, and utterly elite in the hot seat as captain. Always the first to share her incredible knowledge on court (though noticeably less willing to share her chicken fingers at socials!).
• Being The Biggest Netball Lover (Most Committed): Sarah 🙌
• Despite living all the way out in Castelldefels, Sarah makes the trek to training without a single complaint. From messy calcotadas to creative cava glass painting, she defines what it means to be committed to the BCN DNA.

• The Ultimate BCN Hype Maestro: Emma CS (ECS) 📈
• Over the last seven months, our Reels have racked up an insane 36,300 total views and 89 new followers, thanks to our incredible Social Lead! Emma has also been the mastermind behind our off-court vibes, including the brilliant Messy Space social.

🏁 Umpire Recognition

A massive round of applause and huge thank you to you for taking the time and investing in your knowledge: Judith, Katie, Becca, Sarah, Fizz & Emily!

A huge congratulations to Abbi for passing her online assessment with flying colours and to Ebony for completing her umpiring mentoring course, both hitting fantastic milestones that will support our developing officials next season! 🏆🌟—we are so proud of you both.

A special shout-out to the squad who went down to Marbella recently and absolutely smashed it! Alongside Jo Moppett bringing home the official tournament Best Defender title, we want to look back and celebrate our club Marbella winners:
